Pumpkinville began in the Myriad Botanical Gardens’ Children’s Garden in October 2012 with only 3,000 pumpkins. The idea came from Maureen Heffernan, who is the CEO and director of the Gardens and Scissortail Park. Since then, there are now 40,000 pumpkins, and almost 30,000 people went to the Land of Oz-themed Pumpkinville festival last year. Today, it’s the biggest annual event at the Gardens and a favorite fall tradition for tens of thousands of families. Pumpkins, gourds, haystacks, and mums have been used to make creative displays that people have enjoyed. There will be hand-made games, the chance to paint a pumpkin, magical vendors, special treats, and as many rides as you want on Mo’s Carousel.

 

The Gardens is a 501(c)(3) charity. Pumpkinville is a way to raise money for the foundation, with the money going to the foundation. People are encouraged to get memberships so they can save money and see as many shows as possible during the 17-day run. Members also get free entry to the Inasmuch Foundation Crystal Bridge Conservatory, which will open on November 18, 2022. Pumpkinville costs $9 per person for people who are not members.
