September 20-November 12

Artists’ Reception:

Saturday, September 21, 11am-12pm

Experience the world from a new perspective at Magnified: Macro Photography by Skeeter Arnold, Anitra Lavanhar, and Clarence Long. From September 20 to November 12, the Crystal Bridge Art Gallery at Myriad Botanical Gardens will showcase this captivating exhibit, where the intricate details of nature come alive. Macro photography, once a scientific tool, has evolved into an art form that reveals the extraordinary within the ordinary. With a magnification ratio of at least 1:1, this high-magnification close-up photography captures textures, colors, and forms that are invisible to the naked eye. Each photograph invites you to see the world in a new way, revealing the essence of subjects that might otherwise go unnoticed. Join us for this unique perspective on the natural world and let your curiosity be sparked as you commune with nature in ways you’ve never imagined.

Clarence Long III

Clarence Long has been a specialized macro and nature photographer since 2016. His mission is to find beauty in nature and inanimate objects while squeezing every drop of creativity he has into every photo.

Ever since Clarence took the plunge to be more determined with photography, he’s set goals to see the subtle details in our beautiful world through his lens. Capturing aesthetics that are almost naked to the human eye is the most enjoyable and challenging part of his journey.

His work has been featured in multiple galleries and organizations in Oklahoma such as the Myriad Gardens, Paseo Arts and Creativity Center, Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden, and more. Clarence’s vision for his artistic career is expansive and ambitious. He plans to showcase his work to more people in the United States and worldwide to inspire others to have a greater appreciate of nature.

Anitra Lavanhar

Anitra Lavanhar is a fine artist, portrait photographer, and photography instructor living in Tulsa, OK, whose work has been published and exhibited nationally. She photographs a wide range of subjects, from striking urban scenes, multiple exposures, creative portraiture and street photography, as well as vibrant nature close ups.

“Macro photography allows me to slow down and truly appreciate my surroundings. With my macro lens in hand, I don’t have to venture far to discover something extraordinary. Whether it’s the intricate lines of a leaf or the delicate patterns on a bee’s wing, I’m continually captivated by the beauty that emerges when I take a closer look.”

Skeeter Arnold

Skeeter Arnold is many things: A faithful follower of Jesus Christ, a devoted and loving husband, an award winning and published photographic artist and educator, proud member and past president of Metro Professional Photographers Association and a part time gamer.

He is unique as a photographer in that he sees the world and the things in the world around us differently than most, yet continues to capture and create images that don’t typically fall under the category of “normal” or “popular”.

His approach to photography is to slow down, find a unique perspective, capture it in a way that inspires awe and wonder, then share it with the world to enjoy.

His primary goal as a photographic artist is to capture the hidden details and spectacular moments in our beautiful world that are too small or happen too fast for us to see and appreciate. From the tiny hairs on an ants bum to grand landscapes and beautiful lightning bolts streaking through the skies (and maybe even a few photoshopped art pieces from time to time), he uses his talents to give the viewer an opportunity to see what he sees and how he sees it.
